Bungalow with fab views

This is our own holiday home which we let out when we are unable to use it ourselves. It is very convenient and perfect for parking up and walking everywhere after you arrive so that you enjoy the sea air and North Coast brightness.

The house sits above the ocean only 150metres from the water's edge so when the windows are open go to sleep with the sound of waves crashing on the rocks nearby.

Portstewart has a wonderful Promenade with many great coffee shops, cafes and excellent shopping. It is only a 3 - 5 minute walk from the house depending on which way you go from the house. The harbour is closest and often has small fishing vessels which you can see in the mornings from the sitting room window, as they check the lobster and crab pots buoyed out in the sea.

The Causeway Coast Way which is part of the larger Ulster Way, with the Port Path just 150 metres from the house. Heading towards Portrush this path follows the coast along the edge of the Ballyreagh golf course and offers panoramic ocean views and is fairly quiet even in high summer. Heading in the opposite direction which take you to the famous Strand beach which itself is 1.8 miles long ending at the Barmouth where the River Bann enters the sea.

Our large secure garden is perfect for the vast majority of dogs. There are walls on all sides and gates both front and back of the house. If you have a very large dog that will jump walls then we have a hard gated area all down one side of the bungalow which is secure with a higher wall that to date has not been conquered by any dog. We are happy to have 2 dogs visiting at a time provided they are house trained. We ask that you ensure your dogs nails do not pull the carpets and that you are mindful that not all guests have dogs so please do not let them lie on the throws that are on sofas or beds. We suggest bringing your own throws and beds for your dag however we do have  a mat in the conservatory if you want to set a bed on it.

A wee bit about Portstewart

The beautiful seaside town of Portstewart, originally a small fishing village, developed into a popular Victorian resort by the mid-19th century.

Its scenic promenade stretches from the harbour along the ocean’s edge to the bandstand area, nestled below the prominent Dominican College. Our house is just a three-minute walk from the harbour. Along the promenade, you’ll find a wide variety of cafés, ice cream parlours, bars, and restaurants to suit every taste, as well as an excellent selection of independently owned shops.

The stunning two-mile Strand Beach is only a five-minute drive from the house. Famous for its unique feature allowing visitors to drive directly onto the sand (now managed by the National Trust), it’s also easily accessible on foot—just a 35-minute walk along the promenade and around the headland by Dominican College (formerly O’Hara’s Castle).

The video was taken on a cold bright day in between hailstone showers. We find that even in winter, no matter how bad the weather, it is rare that you do not find times during the day to go for a walk.
